Jirisan, which spans the provinces of Gyeongsangnam-do, Jeollabuk-do, and Jeollanam-do, is a mountain that rises to a height of 1,915 meters above sea level. Designated as Korea's first national park on December 29, 1967, it is often called the "Mountain of the People's Spirit" along with Baekdusan Mountain in the north, due to its natural grandeur and the difficulty of access. Today, we would like to introduce three famous spots in Jirisan: Cheonwangbong Peak, Nogodan Plateau, and Guryong Falls.
1. Cheonwangbong Peak

Jirisan's Cheonwangbong Peak, located at an altitude of 1,915 meters, is a prominent symbol of the mountain and captures the hearts of both domestic and international visitors with its stunning natural beauty and panoramic views. From the summit, visitors can marvel at the vast mountainous landscapes. The surrounding area is adorned with cool breezes and lush pine forests, providing an ideal setting for relaxation. Particularly in autumn, the foliage transforms into a golden spectacle, creating a breathtaking scenery. Cheonwangbong Peak is not only popular among hikers but also a sought-after destination for photography enthusiasts due to its picturesque backgrounds.
2. Nogodan Plateau
Jirisan's Nogodan Plateau, situated at an altitude of 1,495 meters, offers a unique blend of historical significance and captivating natural landscapes. This vast plain within Jirisan showcases a harmonious convergence of mountains, valleys, and meadows. It is an archaeological site with remnants of ancient tombs, dating back from the Goryeo Dynasty to the present day. Nogodan Plateau is also an excellent location for trekking and hiking, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in pristine air and connect deeply with nature.
3. Guryong Waterfall

Jirisan's Guryong Waterfall, nestled in the mountain, is renowned for its majestic cascades and picturesque natural scenery. Standing at a height of 40 meters, the waterfall commands attention with its grandeur, allowing visitors to witness the beauty of rushing waters. During the summer season, the volume of water increases due to torrential rains, creating a spectacular display of the waterfall.
